Calliope's local history museum, six km north of the Calliope Crossroads and 100 km south of Rockhampton, is located beside the Bruce Highway near the Calliope River crossing. The museum is open daily and the site is visible from the highway and nearby 24 hour driver facilities, making an interesting stop on long trips.
Railway facilities include a wooden QR carriage, two camp wagons, the Yarwun station (photo below) and the Gladstone Railway Museum Collection. The Village is also the home for the Gladstone area live steam modellers (MELSA) and the Gladstone District Model Railway Group.
