Safety suggestions when visiting the railways.

The poor behaviour of a few individuals, plus rising insurance costs, means that railways have justifiably become very suspicious of anyone wandering around their properties without permission.

Heritage and tourist railways operate with similar hazards to the mainline railways. Heritage tours likewise use these same railway facilities.

Don't park your vehicle where it will be a hazard.
Don't trespass... ask the railway, preferably in writing, for permission to enter their property and obey the rules they provide.
Pay attention to your surroundings, keep off the track, and stay out of the way of moving vehicles or machinery.
Be polite, answer questions honestly and give your name and other details if asked.
Be neat, take your garbage with you and leave the railway's property where it belongs.
Keep your children, guests and pets under control at all times.
